What's New in PLM 360 - February 2016

Over the weekend, we deployed our latest release, which includes improvements to address some bugs and issues.

We have continued with the development and enhancement of NextPLM. The best way to see some of these features/enhancements is through the Beta Site. With this release, we have addressed some bugs and issues for Classic PLM and are working to continuously make it better. Issues resolved in this release include:

• Escalation scripts no longer run twice and escalation alert e-mails are sent only once

• Column sorting in Classification Manager works as expected

• The scrollbar in Classification Manager now works correctly

Feature Friday: What’s New in Autodesk PLM 360 August 2015

Last weekend we released another update to PLM 360.  This release includes an updated classification experience, the introduction of Third Party Licenses, and enhanced participant functionality – now users with the participant licenses can compare BOMs and change BOM configurations.

Feature Friday: Autodesk PLM 360 Classification Overview

Our May release included major new (and much anticipated!) functionality: Classification.  In broad terms, classification provides many benefits.   It helps with part selection and reuse.  It makes it easier to enforce business rules and really understand the function of an item (this can reduce the reliance on intelligent part numbers, if that’s important to your company).  By allowing class specific attributes, you can create a common taxonomy scheme to help communicate with your external suppliers.

In the next few weeks, we’ll be diving in deeper into this new feature.  For a great overview on how it works, watch this intro video:

 

You can see how classification can allow you to differentiate between items that share a business purpose but require different data to describe them.  Looking forward to sharing more about this great new functionality in upcoming posts, webinars at at Autodesk University!  Speaking of that, don’t forget next week in the deadline to submit class proposals – come share your knowledge of PLM 360 with others.

Tip Tuesday! What's New in the latest PLM 360 Update

Exciting weekend!  In addition to it being Mother’s Day here in the states, we also rolled out several new and exciting features and enhancements to PLM 360.  I’ll spend some time in the next few Feature Friday’s detailing them, but you can get an overview of them in What’s New: May 2015 in the Help section.

A much anticipated feature, Classifications, was added.  We first previewed this at last year’s Autodesk University – you can view that class on-demand (and while you’re at the AU site, consider submitting a proposal to teach at AU 2015).

Improvements were also made to importing and scripting.  Be sure to peruse the Release Notes as well to see a detailed list of resolved issues and enhancements.

Feature Friday: Improved CX with Our Last Autodesk PLM 360 Release

A big focus area for many companies in this day and age is around Customer Experience (CX).  Don’t worry, I’ll blog about the technical nitty-gritty of our latest release over the next few Friday blogs, but since most of my PLM background has been so customer facing (consulting, support), I’m always excited about things that make life easier for customers!

We’ve updated our Welcome Tour.  This new interactive, guided tour is a great first introduction the new PLM 360 users.  As I’m onboarding new users to our system, I’ll be sure to reminder folks to go there for a quick refresher. 

Did you check out the What’s New on our help?  In addition to highlighting a few of the latest features and enhancement, we’ve started publishing Release Notes.   It’s a great way to see what new features are included in the release as well as issues that have been resolved.

Tip Tuesday! Enjoying the View in the Autodesk PLM 360 Mobile App

Last week we announced the launch of our mobile app for Autodesk PLM 360.  Today I want to share a tip I’ve learned this past week for getting the most out of the mobile app.  Often you want to review recently created records in a workspace – if you set up a view in the web application showing recently created records, when you are using the mobile app, you can easily navigate to the different views and choose that one.

Tip Tuesday! What’s New in PLM 360

One of my favorite jokes when I was young was to reply to “What’s New?” with “New York, New Jersey, New England…”  I promise to keep the bad jokes to a minimum tomorrow - I will be going over what’s new in our latest release of PLM 360 in our PLM Talk webinar series (noon East Coast time).

We’ll cover the improvements made to BOM Compare, Support of Sourcing Fields in BOM Views, Scripting Enhancements (including the new Script Debugger which I have to say in my PLM Admin role I’ve been enjoying!), and Lifecycle Management Enhancements.  If you can’t make it, the links included in this blog will fill you in or you can watch the recording post webinar.
