What's New in the Oct 2017 Release of Fusion Lifecycle

Our October 2017 Fusion Lifecycle release brought lots of enhancements to our Modern User Interface and improved performance to My Outstanding Works.

 

Here’s What’s New:

• Multiple User-Interface Enhancements for the Modern User Interface
• Project Management Feature Now Available for Modern User Interface.
• Attachments Tab Updates for the Modern User Interface.
• Grid Tab Enhancements for the Modern User Interface.
• Improved Change Log for the Modern User Interface.
• Improved Performance of the My Outstanding Work Refresh Time when Using Precondition Scripts.

What's New in Fusion Lifecycle: June 2017

Our new release is hot, hot, hot!  Or maybe I’m thinking about the weather here in Portland last week.  We hit triple digits! Here is what's new in the June 2017 update:

• New Copy Item Ability for Modern Interface

You can now copy items in the modern interface with the Clone command. Copying an item creates a new item with all of the source item's details, including all tab data, such as attachments, BOM listings, and relationships.

• New Description View When Creating an Item

You can now view the description of a field when creating an item in the modern interface.

• Workspace Now Displays the Number of Items

You can now view the number of items in a workspace.

• New Escalation Time Range

Escalation time can now be set to 999 days or fewer.

We also resolved quite a few known issues – if you had an open support case, that team should be following up.  In the meantime, here’s a list:

Resolved Issues

• Email notifications sent in the modern interface are now cleaner, do not contain HTML tags, and have a more readable subject line.
• Updating or saving an item containing an OnEdit script that updates a field used as a pivot for a derived field is now faster.
• The bookmarks panel in the dashboard is no longer empty after navigating it for a second time.
• The item.addBOM method in scripting no longer lets you create duplicate entries in the database.
• Users can now see a deleted item with the revision value of "Superseded."
• The loading time is now faster for BOM tabs containing multiple columns.
• Users are no longer logged out of the system during certain workflows.
• Effectivity dates for affected items no longer show yesterday's date when you release an item today.
• Users no longer have to refresh the browser to see bookmarks in the modern interface.
• A value of False can now be used when setting an Is Latest Version or Is Working Version filter on the Items and BOMs workspace.
• The Workflow Action dialog and Filter menu in the modern interface no longer shudder in certain conditions.
• In the modern interface, an attachment is no longer added twice if a user double-clicks on the add button in the Attachments tab.
• The details page for the Quick Create ECO workflow in the modern interface now loads correctly after creation.
• Importing users all by name in a pick-list multi-select no longer produces an error.

Feature Friday: What's New in Fusion Lifecycle - March 2017

Our latest release has quite a few improvements for the modern interface. Reminder: to see the new interface, the Admin can change the Interface Style in General Settings so a user can choose in their profile which to see.

Let's go through a few of them.

BOM Comparison is now available in the modern interface:

The Where Used tab is now available so you can easily view that parent's items:

Probably one of my favorite new features...

You can now apply custom filters to any column in a workspace view using AND and OR operators!

Other enhancements –

Improvements to the Quick Create workflows, dashboard charts, the ability to run on-demand scripts from the Actions menu.

Tip Tuesday! Resolved Issues in the Fusion Lifecycle March 2017 Release

When you logged into Fusion Lifecycle yesterday, you may have noticed we had another release.  We’ll be covering the new features in the March release on the blog at the end of the week. 

Today I want to raise awareness of all the resolved issues.  If you had previously worked with our support team, they’ll have followed up (need a reminder on how to log a support case?  See detailed instructions in the Help: Fusion Lifecycle Technical Support).

So what was resolved in the March release?

• Resolved an issue in which removing a field from a multi-select picklist could result in a 500 server error when running a report or splitting the workspace view.
• Searching for an approver by first name now returns results.
• The scripting method item.project.clear() now works as expected.
• The main menu layout defined in classic mode is now reflected correctly in the modern interface.
• Reports can now include effectivity date.
• Scripts are now listed alphabetically in the workflow editor.
• An issue in which the position of a note in the workflow editor prevented the map from saving is resolved.
• Imported items now correctly show the user's login name in the Last Modified By column.
• Revision T is no longer skipped per the ASME Y14.35M revision standard.
• When logging in, the Stay signed in option now works as expected.
• Search results now include linking single select picklist values.
• Closing a multi-select picklist no longer leaves typed characters in the picklist.
• BOM UOM picklists now show the correct count of matches when filtering for text.
• Credentials expire after 24 hours of inactivity.

Cloud PDM in Fusion Lifecycle: Essential Skill Tutorials

Good news! A new playlist and new tutorials are available for Cloud PDM workflows within Autodesk Fusion Lifecycle. Topics will cover connecting to the cloud, uploading & managing CAD data, attaching files to items, and release management. Check out the videos below, and be sure to sure to subscribe as more tutorial videos will be added.

What's New in Fusion Lifecycle: September 2016 Release

The September release of Fusion Lifecycle includes quite a few new features and enhancements. I've listed some of the enhancements that you may find valuable below.

 

Improved Report Management

Administrators can transfer the ownership of a report to another user. Did someone create a report and then leave the company? No problem. Transfer the report to another user.

You’ll see the this option on any Shared Report:

Better E-mail Notifications

All e-mail notifications sent by Fusion Lifecycle are now tracked in an e-mail log.  All email traffic is logged on our servers. If there is a need to verify some email traffic, please contact customer support.

Clone Import Projects

Clone an import project for quickly importing more stuff into a workspace without creating a whole new project.

Search for More, Find More

Linking picklist values are now indexed and searchable. You can now locate items based on picklist values.

Resolved Issues and Bug Fixes

The September 2016 release of Autodesk® Fusion Lifecycle also focuses on resolving issues and quality improvement. For a detailed list of resolved issues and enhancements, see Release Notes.

Autodesk Adds Cloud PDM to Fusion Lifecycle

Today at Accelerate 2016 in Boston MA, we gave attendees a sneak peek into Autodesk Fusion's Technology Roadmap. One of the most exciting announcements shared is that Cloud Product Data Management has been added to Autodesk Fusion Lifecycle!

Per our official release - "The new cloud-based product data management (Cloud PDM) functionality is built directly into Fusion Lifecycle and is available immediately. Cloud PDM enables engineers to collaborate on designs and manage their work-in-process CAD data and documents. Teams can effectively collaborate on designs, track versions and releases, and connect to manufacturing workflows for more effective sharing of design data across the enterprise."

Feature Friday: What’s New in the May 2016 Release of Autodesk Fusion Lifecycle

Last weekend, we yet again updated your tenants – I’m sure you all noticed the name change: Autodesk® PLM 360 is now Autodesk® Fusion Lifecycle (read more about why this change was made).  In addition to that, The May 2016 release of Autodesk® Fusion Lifecycle focuses on resolving issues and quality improvement.

Want to view the current status and upcoming maintenance schedule for the Autodesk Cloud Services?  Be sure to visit the Health Dashboard.  You can also subscribe to be notified via email when there are status changes or maintenance scheduled – click on the Health Subscription and select the services you want.

There’s a comprehensive list of Resolved Issues on the Help – I’m highlighting a few of the ones below:

• Replacing the image for a working revision no longer breaks the image link for the released item.
• Performance issues when adding a BOM via the API have been addressed.
• Complete where used information is now returned by GET REST API.
• Improved Item Details tab load time.
• The total time to perform a search is now calculated more accurately.
• Grid tabs no longer display as center justified.
• Scheduled scripts can now run getprintview() function.

PLM joins the Fusion Product Innovation Platform

PLM 360 is now part of the Autodesk product innovation platform, named Fusion. This platform redefines the way products are designed, made and used. Fusion brings together a unique set of cloud-connected design, manufacturing, and IoT tools.

As part of this change, PLM 360 will now be Fusion Lifecycle. It's still the same great product lifecycle management solution, but now part of our Fusion family.

Tip Tuesday! Recent Updates to Autodesk PLM 360

In case you missed it, here’s what’s been recently resolved in PLM 360 in our April patch.

 

 

 

Resolved Issues

• Improved derived fields experience.
  • Improved performance of derived field value propagation.
  • Fixed an issue with empty derived fields of type Date.
• Improved search experience.
  • Improved search performance.
  • Improved search indexing speed for better search results.
  • The superseded revision is no longer returned when searching for the latest revision.
  • When searching for latest revisions in revision controlled workspaces, results include the latest revision and unreleased revisions.
• Improved workflow notifications.
  • Fixed workflow e-mail notifications sent when no outgoing transitions are marked with Notify users who have permission to perform it.
  • Workflow notifications now include all of the transitions available to the recipient.
  • In a loop transition, an item owner who can also perform transitions now receives a single e-mail that includes the available transitions when Notify owner on occurrence is turned on.
  • Workflow notifications for a loop transition are sent only the first time to approval board members that haven't approved the step.
  • Fixed workflow state reminders to notify only eligible users.
  • Improved escalation performance.
• Session inactivity duration extended from 30 minutes to 90 minutes.
