Want to create a classification field that is common across classes? Today’s tip is to make sure you know that you can with field sharing – you can add an existing field from another classification. This is outlined in the Help menu, in Add a Field to a Classification (the Add an Existing Field section). Keep in mind it’s the definition that is reused, so overrides and inheritance are independent in each use of the field.
Will you be at Autodesk University next week? Join us for two exciting hands-on labs covering classification:
- PL11276-L - Keep Your Tenant Cutting Edge: Adding Classification to Your Autodesk PLM 360 Site
- PL11703-L - Keep Your Tenant Cutting Edge, Part 2: Advanced Autodesk PLM 360 Classification Techniques
There’s also a great lecture class - PL10355 - Becoming Classy with Classification. This is a great way to not only learn more about the classification feature, but you’ll also hear from PLM 360 customers on how they will use it to make a positive internal impact.
