Today’s tip is to use my new favorite tab in PLM 360 (other tabs, don’t get jealous – I’m fickle and will probably have a new favorite soon!). Lately as an end user, I’m finding the ‘Action Notifications’ tab to be very useful. This allows me to request to be notified on specified workflow transitions – or you can set it to notify whole groups.
They are easy to set up – just specify when and who to notify. This can be handy in cases where you aren’t already getting the regular workflow notifications (for more information on how those work, see Don’t Go Cross-Eyed Figuring Out Notifications in PLM 360). Let’s say for a particular Change Order you want the Service group to know when the Change Order has been approved:
Here’s a user in the Service group that has read-only access to the workspace and is not a participant in the workflow, but they get the notification:
An administrator needs to activate the tab on the workspace (and it’s only valid on ones with workflow), so if you’re an end-user and want to employ this functionality, be sure to ask your PLM admin about it.
I’m going to be talking more about this and other notification methods in next week’s PLM Talk – hope to see you there!
