Cue the Neil Sedaka music! Today’s tip comes from one of our PLM 360 Product Managers, Trung Nguyen. He did some work on a project where he embedded a calendar into a PLM workspace and thought it would make a fun Tip Tuesday. So I tried my hand at it and in a few minutes, had my Google Calendar embedded in a newly created ‘Tip Tuesday’ workspace.
Here’s the full text from the Computed Field Forumla:
'<iframe name="resize" id="resize" onLoad="calcHeight();" width="800" height="600" frameborder="0" scrolling="yes" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" src="https://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=' + GOOGLE_ID +'%40gmail.com&ctz=America/Los_Angeles"></iframe>'
Are you saying, “Cool, but so what?”? Here’s a PLM use-case for using this functionality. Let’s say you are managing multiple projects in PLM 360 but other team members want to on use Google Calendar. This will give them a way to still maintain information there, but reference it in the PLM 360 worskpace or on the PLM 360 dashboard. Notice how the formula references the ‘Google ID’ field, so each project could display a separate calendar.
There was another recent example of using an iFrame from a customer on the forum – check out this post to see how one customer used a computed field to have a document preview from Autodesk 360.
My apologies for anyone humming ‘I love, I love, I love my calendar girl’ now… ^MS
